Try and Try Again Pt. 1

This year I didn't do any Black Friday (or Cyber Monday for that matter) shopping.  I wasn't in the mood to fight the crowds in-store and I didn't see any great deals online.  However, since I had the week off of work I decided to head to the local mall and do a little shopping while everyone else was work (in hopes of being able to browse in peace and quiet).  I didn't walk away with much, but here's all the stuff I tried on.

The first stop was Banana Republic.  I really liked their dresses, but sadly they just don't fit my body type.  These were in size 00 petite and it zipped up just fine, but they weren't flattering.  The hemline was too long (not a big deal if I tailor it) and my ribs just stuck out like crazy (so NOT flattering or fixable with tailoring).  I tried on 3 total.  Here's one of them.
Notice the bulging rib cage and the paunch around the belly. yuck.

I also picked up these two shirts. I know, I know, really similar styles. How boring.  But I really wanted a green shirt so I settled on this silk one.  This red one was a maybe.  The nice sales lady picked this one out for me and it's not something I would have picked out myself but I thought why not try something out of my comfort zone. I can make it work. Or at least try to.
I also picked out this bracelet but after some deliberation decided to return.  It was just a little too big for my wrist. Such a shame, I really liked the orange with the gold hardware! Kinda reminded me of Tory Burch.

I also tried some items on at Forever21.  I know the quality there isn't great but it fits me so much better than some other places.

I was debating between these two jackets.  The left one looked more flattering in person than in photos.  After looking at the photo, I decided to pick the right one instead. What do you think? Did I make the right choice?

I saw this green polka dot sweater online and really wanted it! But at the time I didn't want anything else (and didn't want to pay for shipping).  So I was super happy to find it in-store!
This dress looked really cute on the hanger but it didn't really fit at the shoulders.  And the armholes were too big. AND it was too long. I bought it anyway thinking I could fix it. But alas, this one will be going back. Total buyers remorse on this one.
This dress fit great. But I just didn't like the holes near the top.  It didn't look quite right to me.
And here's a picture of me wearing all the stuff I bought from F21.  Not that I bought it to wear together.  Just thought I'd do it and see if I could find some cool pairing that's usually not my style.  I totally forgot to take a pic of the skirt while in the dressing room but here it is in this photo!

The sweater and the skirt look really good together! Just not so much with the jacket. Ha!

Sidenote: Hubby says I furrow a lot. And after seeing all these pictures... I think he's right! But I can't help it! Anyone have any suggestions???

As I mentioned in the title, this is only pt.1.  Part 2 consists of my online orders.  I decided to break it up to 2 posts so it wouldn't be toooooo long.  I think I may have a shopping problem?  I also have to finish up my vacation posts but I didn't want to delay these shopping posts in case there's something that some of you may want (while they're still in stores).

Did any of you buy anything on Black Friday or Cyber Monday?

  3. Looks like you found a few great pieces! Totally agree on the fit of dresses from Banana...lately they just don't work at all. Love the little black jacket you picked up - the shoulder detail is perfect on it!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting! Glad to know I'm not the only one with problems when it comes to finding clothes that fit! Seems like we're not along at least!

  4. You found some great items, the jacket from f21 was a great buy. As for br....I used to buy 40% of my wardrobe there but ate a while the deigns were recycled from the previous year with slight variations and new colors.

  6. It seems as you did find some great stuff on that week! I don't usually go shopping on black Friday and most of my shopping I do online, although I do like to shop in some of the small boutiques in my neighborhood. I really like what you got for F21, especially that leather jacket and the skirt! Can't wait to see what you got online!

  8. The jacket and sweater are great buys from F21 - I didn't end up doing any shopping on either day because I didn't want to battle the crowds!
