Barcelona

Apologies for the lack of posting.  Now that we're more settled in after the move AND we have internet, I can start posting again. Hooray! Now onto the vacation recaps!

The first city we visited was Barcelona.  I found Barcelona to be a beautiful city (especially so for those that appreciate architecture).  I'm not an architecture buff and even I enjoyed it!  The first night there hubby and I decided to take a stroll down La Rambla and the surrounding area after dinner. What I love most about Barcelona is that you can just walk to wherever you need to go and not have to rely on public transportation.  We found the one of the Gaudi buildings called Casa Batllo.  It's so detailed that you can stand there and stare at it forever.  Here's a picture of it :

The next day we got up early and went to La Sagrada Familia to see what all the fuss was about and now I totally understand.  No picture can really do it justice.  But here it is anyway:
I read that there are a lot of pick pockets there.   So we decided to go earlier hoping that they wouldn't be up and about yet.  Not sure if that logic made sense or not but we didn't run into any!

Now, I'm a total foodie so here are some pictures of food (feel free to skip these if they don't interest you).

We had the BEST paella in Barcelona (duh.)  I could eat this whoooole thing by myself. Okay maybe not by I'd totally try.
Here's a gofre (waffle) that I had on La Rambla. I know it's a total tourist trap but who cares... it smelled so good I couldn't resist!  Please excuse the graininess of the photo.
And finally, some churros con chocolate:

That pretty much sums up the Barcelona leg of the trip...  Lots of eating and walking around!  Looking back, I wish we were there for more than 3 days but that just gives me a reason to return on a future trip!

I'll leave you with a quick outfit of the day on the hotel balcony.

  8. Glad the move went well - and thanks for sharing your pics! I had churros for the first time a few weeks ago, so delish! Granted they were Costco (!) ones, so I bet the real deal with the hot chocolate must be drool-worthy!
