Try day Friday: Nordstrom and Forever 21

This past weekend I met up with a girl friend for a quick shopping session since Forever21 had a 21% off sale.

Before meeting up, I had to stop by Nordstrom to make a return.  And on my way out I spotted a table full of sunglasses so of course I had to look. When it comes to sunglasses, it's very difficult to find a pair that frame my face in a flattering way, let alone stay on my face.  You see I have a low bridge which makes it frustrating to shop for glasses.  Not having anyone around to ask, I decided to text my sister and get her opinion (does anyone else do that too?).  The following convo ensued:

I ended up with the blue pair because it was bright AND it stayed on my face the best.  She liked the black ones and said it was very me, but unfortunately those were the worst at staying on!

Here's a quick OOTD.  A nice casual outfit for a quick shopping trip.  Top is from Roxy (old) and shorts are from Target (I reviewed these in an earlier post).

I picked up this hi-low baseball styled tee.  I thought it would be great to wear with shorts or skirts. To me it seemed like a dressier tee (if that makes any sense). The sleeves are actually this chiffon-like material.
This dress looked much much MUCH cuter on the hanger.  It wasn't a difficult decision to pass on this one.  I showed hubby this pic after I got home and he said I looked like La Llorona. gee thanks.

This top had me debating for a while.  I really liked the sleeves but wasn't thrilled about the neckline.  But in the end I bought it.  I figured I could try to style this top in different ways.  I need to stretch my creativity anyway.

This next one I picked up so that I could wear with a bodycon skirt.  It also looks good with shorts so it'd be perfect for summer!

I was waffling on this shirt too. This one would also look cute with bodycons and high wasted bottoms.  The problem was this one was also a tie top like the one above (is that what you call it, or is there a proper term?). Since I'm a sucker for gingham, I ended up getting this one too.

This navy blue peplum top was an easy pass.  It was way too big and just ended up looking like a bag on me.

This last dress I really liked but my girls just aren't big enough to hold the dress up.  I was sad to let this one go. If you're better endowed than I am (99.9% chance of that being true), I highly suggest you try this on if you love houndstooth. The bow across the bust also made me look a little fuller there.  I thought it was very figure flattering.

The funny thing is I really didn't NEED anything from F21.  I had just placed an online order a week ago (I know, I have a problem when it comes to F21); which I will review in a future post. The only reason I went was to a. hang out with my friend and b. find a crop top.  I saw they had some cute crop tops online but they ran out of my size and I wanted one to wear with my new peplum skirt.

Thus concludes my little *3 hour* shopping excursion at Forever21.  I guess that's what happens when you go shopping with girl friends... right? Please say yes.  Did anyone else take advantage of the sale?

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  1. aww cute! that happens to me w/ f21 ALL the time.. omg i order things.. and then while i'm waiting for the order i go into the store and buy more things FML. hahaha.

that polka dot peplum is so adorable.. too bad it was too big though.. but your right it would have looked cuter on you if it was more nipped at the waist.

heh.. well there are only 200-ish in & out locations whereas there are over 1000+ 5 guys! #justsayin :) but i'm east coast through and through and i've been eating 5 guys since my high school days.. my husband grew up on the west coast and i've found that west coasters tend to say in and out is better than 5 guys.. BUT my hubs says he prefers 5 guys hahaha! so you'll have to decide for yourself.. but honestly they aren't even the same type of burger it's like shack shack.. can't compare the 3 of them!

  5. I like the gingham tie-top as well. The white dress is just too baggy and not made to flatter. And what, Forever21 had a sale!?
